Learn about how management processes and/or marketing concepts can be applied to current issues and contemporary organisations. Gain valuable theoretical and practical skills required to succeed in business, while completing papers toward the NZ Diploma in Business (Level 5) Accounting, Human Resource Management and Marketing and Sales strands or the Bachelor of Commerce (Management or Marketing majors), or the Bachelor of Accounting.

BSNS5004 Change and Innovation (15 credits)

The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies to contribute to organisational change and innovation.  At the successful completion of this course, akonga will be able to:

  • Apply practices and processes relevant to organisational change and innovation.
  • Discuss how organisational change and innovation can contribute to enhance business performance; and
  • Examine personal and interpersonal skills that contribute to organisational change and innovation.

BSNS5503 Introduction to Digital Marketing (15 credits) 

The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies to apply digital marketing tools and analyse secondary information to support business performance.

At the successful completion of this course, akonga will be able to:

  • Describe existing and emerging technology relevant to marketing and sales contexts.
  • Employ digital marketing tactics and performance measures in marketing contexts; and
  • Analyse secondary information to advise management of marketing and sales issues.

ACCY6107 Research Methods (15 credits)

The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies to apply research methods within a business environment.

At the successful completion of this course, akonga will be able to:

  • Analyse the role of quantitative and qualitative research in organisational contexts; and
  • Apply principles and methods of research to inform decision-making in an organisational context.

MAN632 Operations Management (15 credits)

This paper provides students with an understanding of the management function in relation to the production of goods and services.  Students will gain knowledge of the practical realities of operations management and how it contributes to the overall management of the organisation in a hospitality, tourism and/or business context. 

ETH760 Business Ethics (15 credits)

This paper aims to provide participants with an understanding of ethical reasoning. Participants will learn to identify ethical issues and evaluate ethical theories as they are applied to various contexts with a particular emphasis on business.
